Church Biography

Before the foundation of the world began, God foresaw Community Christian Fellowship Ministries as a dynamic tool of evangelism under the leadership of Bishop Samuel A. Wilson Sr. The Lord spoke to his heart and empowered him to go back into the community where he was raised, to preach the Gospel to those who are bound and alienated from God.

In October 1989, a small group of five persons began to meet in Bishop and Lady J’s home each week for bible study. The first public worship service took place @ 16605 E. Warren on September 9, 1990.

Within a year’s time God blessed CCF to move to its’ second location @ 15624 E. Warren where over 150 plus souls were added to The Body Of Christ. Bishop Wilson began the Higher Ground Tutorial Program that has serviced thousands of students since that time, throughout the state of Michigan.

Being led by our shepherd and obedient to the “Will Of God” CCF traveled to its’ third location at 17330 Chandler Park Drive. By this time the 5~Fold Ministry was definitely established! Bishops ~ Elders ~ Ministers and Deacons began to train under the teaching of Bishop Wilson & it was evident that the Apostolic Mantle was upon Bishop Wilson’s life! CCF can humbly say that we became fertile soil for families to be planted, rooted and grounded in the faith.

After seeking the “Wisdom of God” Bishop Wilson was mandated to remain on the eastside of Detroit to enable CCF to be a light that would shine in the midst of darkness. Various Ministries were birthed through CCF such as the marriage ministry, singles ministry, youth and outreach ministries just to name a few.

Thereafter; the Lord led Bishop Wilson and CCF to its’ fourth and current location at 8131 E. Outer Drive, which has allowed many more ministries and outreach programs to be explored. During this time CCF has helped numerous students to achieve accredited hours towards career goals in subjects such as nursing assistants, computer and graphic arts designing, cosmetology & film productions. We have also helped many women with substance abuse problems to receive deliverance, regain custody of their children, complete GED courses & obtain jobs.

The Vision

Community Christian Fellowship is a worshipping body of born again believers in Jesus Christ that will minister to the whole man; spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. Our ministry will be a vital force to effect wholeness and well-being in our community and its' residents through relevant ministry and program initiatives that will reflect the glory of God.

The Mission

Since we are the Body of Christ, our mission is to allow Jesus to live His life through us by the Holy Spirit. As we yield to Him, He will build His Church (Matt. 16:18). He will do this by bringing new converts into the community of faith, and progressively transform us into His image until we all come to full maturity in Him. (2 Cor. 3:18)

The Goal

  • To see lives changed by the power of the Gospel.
  • To exemplify Christ's teachings through service to our immediate and extended communities.
  • To equip African American men to lead their families and communities.
  • To provide Christian Value Based education for our youth.
  • To offer our youth activities that will promote safety, wholeness, & respect within our communities.
  • To create economic opportunities that will produce wealth within our communities to detour deviant behavior.
